Yuma Energy has partnered with Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation to set up 22 battery swapping stations across nine stations on Mumbai Metro Line 3, the companies announced on Wednesday.
The stations will serve electric two-wheeler users — including gig workers, delivery riders and daily commuters — by allowing them to quickly swap depleted batteries for fully charged ones, eliminating long charging wait times.
Yuma Energy currently supports more than 13,000 vehicles in Mumbai and facilitates over 20,000 battery swaps daily through its existing citywide network.
The collaboration is part of MMRC’s Non-Fare Box Revenue (NFBR) initiative, which focuses on generating additional revenue through commercial use of metro infrastructure beyond ticket sales. By integrating battery swapping facilities within metro stations, MMRC aims to strengthen first- and last-mile connectivity while promoting the adoption of electric mobility alongside public transport.
